Who says a suburban family garden can’t knock your socks off? Anyone who does can be directed here, to this unexpected tropical hideaway on a perfectly ordinary Newcastle street.
Starting with an unusable sloping site, we worked the levels to create four zones – entertaining, pool, fire pit and children’s play areas – with strong connections to each other and with the upstairs living area. We paid our respects to the existing mature frangipani tree, incorporating this stunning natural feature into the design.
This design won the 2018 AILDM Gold Award in the Residential Landscape Design 50–150m2 category. Read all about it here
We got a bit bold, making the call to re-engineer the back of the house to create the expansive and utterly envy-inducing entertaining area. And we made it all beautiful, with lush foliage and striking plant textures, vertical timber pool fencing allowing for the play of light and sound, and sandstone logs providing rustic warmth around the fire pit.
The completed outdoor space is a winner for our awesome clients, who love living in it, playing in it and sharing it with friends and family – and we love that they love it.
